The Blind Leading the Blinder!

Funny premise isn’t it? But that is exactly what’s happening today. “There is nothing new under the sun,” the preacher said… and he was right. Eli, high priest of Israel, trying to teach a boy named Samuel about God, yet he couldn’t even raise his own offspring properly! In fact not only were his sons despicable, but Eli had taken a “blind eye” to their sin for so long, that he became physically blind himself! And here is the kicker, Samuel was the one HEARING God’s voice and yet the Bible says; And Samuel did not yet know the Lord. Here we have the “High Priest” Eli who can’t hear God and a child who doesn’t know God, yet HEARS HIs voice! It is the religious “older brother” spirit that gets infuriated when God speaks to the ungodly or touches the untouchable. Saul, before becoming Paul, Balaam’s donkey and you and I living our pagan pre-existence, we all heard the voice of God’s Spirit or we could have never met JESUS! I remember preaching up in the north about God touching the untouchable and during the message a guy manifested, trying to talk over me and raising his voice calling me a heretic. Here is the sad part: 1) He considered himself an intercessor 2) I was reading right out of the Bible when he manifested. Would you like to know what I was reading? Luke 4:14-30 (New International Version)

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

14Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15He taught in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
16He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. 17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18″The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
19to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]

20Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21and he began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

22All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

23Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’ ”

24″I tell you the truth,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown. 25I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. 26Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon. 27And there were many in Israel with leprosy[b] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”

28All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him down the cliff. 30But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.
Wow, do you see it? What made this young man manifest in my meeting, is the same thing that made these people manifest in Jesus’ meeting! The “older brother” spirit or it’s more popular title: the spirit of entitlement. Jesus dared to tell God’s chosen people, the Israelites that in the days of Elijah, when there was no food or water, God took care of a Sidonian (pagan) widow. And when leprosy came upon many in Israel, God only healed (cleansed) one, Naaman the Syrian (pagan). What are you saying Michael? Do you dare to tell us God speaks to people, heals people, loves people before they know Him? Yes, I dare to tell you that. Is that anymore outrageous than people who “know” God trusting false prophets, perverted pastors, self appointed apostles ,inflated evangelists or deceived teachers with THEIR intimate relationship with the Father. Before I continue, let me state for the record, I did NOT say Prophets,Pastors, Apostles, Evangelists or Teachers (note Caps!) are evil. I work with legitimate 5 fold ministers every week of my life! However for every one “authentic” first century minister I meet there are nine “wolves in sheep’s clothing” who are masters at the art of deception! A real minister would never lead you to their personality, no they would lead you to Christ! What I am saying loud and clear is this, do not depend on any man to be your spiritual guide. All men are flawed (including most definitely the author of this post!) so let the Alpha and the Omega be just that in your life, the first word and the last. Blind men make terrible tour guides. Many of todays leaders have lost their way, like Jack Sparrows compass, everything is spinning out of control. Magnetic north and true north are far from each other. You have been given all things pertaining to life and Godliness in Christ Jesus! Don’t trust something as precious as your Spiritual life with just anyone, The Holy Spirit is your compass! He is your guide who sticks closer than a brother. If you are alone in the middle of the desert or an island in the middle of the sea, WHO WILL YOU DEPEND ON THEN?
You must cultivate your personal life with Christ, and learn the sound of HIs voice for yourself. There are plenty of good men and woman who can offer assistance on your journey, but only one is qualified to chart your course… Christ! Follow Him and Him alone and you will always be on course! This is written with love as the engine and truth as the wheel. Selah.
